Teaching candidates are evaluated on these three key areas: high quality teaching practice, contribution to learning area and curriculum development (IB PYP and MYP) relationships with students, staff and parents.

We require a personal interview, in school or by Skype, followed by a test lesson for all finalist candidates to permanent teaching positions. A valid teaching certificate/qualification is also a prerequisite for employment.

Vacant Positions

1. Math Teacher (Year 50 % position)

Description of Position:

  • Develop effective lesson plans to teach Mathematics to the Grade-6, 7 and Grade-8 (MYP-1,2 and 3)

  • Use a variety of teaching methods to ensure high quality learning takes place

  • Implement the requirements of all relevant curricula including  IB MYP

  • Provide differentiated instruction for various learning/skill levels of students to improve attainment

  • Organise and attend relevant competitions and activities

  • Respect and value each student’s social, cultural and religious background and by example, provide mutual respect and tolerance
  • Share in the management of pastoral care, health, welfare and behaviour of all student’s and in particular, those within your designated groups

  • Encourage children to take pride in their own environment and show respect and concern for others, to the benefit of the school as a caring community.

  • Be responsible for all aspects of classroom management eg. Care of equipment with resources well-labelled and accessible.  Maintain tidy, well organised classes

  • Collaborate with the Principal and staff in establishing and developing effective student assessment procedures and tagged portfolios.  Keep appropriate records of achievement for each child in class and provide reports as necessary

  • Build positive links between yourself and parents of students in your care

  • Guide, motivate and monitor classroom helpers in carrying out their tasks

  • Maintain an ambassadorial role for NLIS in the community and beyond

Essential Criteria:

We will only consider applications from candidates who:

  • holds an appropriate teaching qualification.

  • have a minimum of two years’ teaching experience in a school  (exceptional candidates without IB experience may be considered)

  • native speakers of English
