New International School in Oslo

The current need and expected future demand of international schools in Oslo has led to
the initiative and the establishment of Northern Lights International School (NLIS)
which opened its doors on August 17, 2015.

The owner of NLIS is Norlights Education AS. This company, whose goal is “Investing in future generations”, is also the owner of the following schools in Norway: Drammen
Montessoriskole, Drammen Montessoribarnehage and Stavanger Montessoriskole.
NLIS’s founding company hopes that the school will enhance Oslo’s international appeal
and attract more international talent to Oslo.

NLIS offers an English-language curriculum for the children of international academics,
researchers and expats in Oslo. The school welcomes children between 1st to 10th grade.
The school has relocated to Skådalen in the academic year 2016/2017.

NLIS is implementing the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program
(PYP). NLIS is a candidate school for the PYP and is pursuing authorization as an IB
World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy- a commitment to
high quality international education that NLIS believe is important for our students.

NLIS wants children to enjoy their learning and develop enquiring minds. NLIS is a
school where the individual comes first. Our primary aim is to identify and appreciate
the unique potential of each student, and develop it to the full in a caring, comfortable
and happy environment. We want children to develop all the skills they will need in
order to confidently face the world of tomorrow. Small class sizes limited to a maximum
between 10 and 18 per class help reach a low student-teacher ratio and provide a more
child-centered and personalized education

NLIS will be accepting grades 1 through 6 in the current school year and will be expanding
in the years to come.
