Last week at NLIS, we celebrated book character day. The main objective behind this day was to ignite the importance of reading and knowledge about literature among the students. It was interesting to see all the students and teachers geared and dressed up to participate in the book character parade and eventually present the character they were dressed as. Most of the students chose to dress up as their favourite characters, got the related books with them and talked about the IB learner profile this particular character could connect to.

To keep the spirits high and motivate the students, our teachers also decided to dress up for the same. After the character parade students got into their buddy reading groups, and spent another hour sharing stories with each other. Such engagements give students an opportunity to develop particular skills and exhibit their non-academic abilities. It also helps students to enhance their stage skills and presentation skills. Thus it not only develops their personality however, also helps to strengthen their self confidence.
