An important skill for every person to have is the ability to solve problems. As a part of the primary years program, most of the units of inquiry have an element of problem solving inbuilt in them. This specifically comes from the perspective that the program makes students empowered of their own learning. And this is why we use problem solving across the curriculum while we are working towards each student’s holistic development.
PYP 5 as a part of their classroom routine have their own time to play games that enhances problem solving skills in them. These games vary from individual puzzles, cooperative games to challenges and also adversarial games.
These games not only build critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, interpersonal and independent work skills however, have far reaching positive consequences which students can apply to their real lives.
